Beyond the Rack: Creating your perfect wedding garment

You’ve probably started a Pinterest, you’ve maybe got some websites bookmarked, some posts saved on Instagram. You are ready to start shopping for your wedding garment! But wait, none of this is exactly what you’re looking for. If you’ve got an idea in your head of what your perfect wedding garment looks like and can’t quite seem to find it, you might be looking for a bespoke service! Not everybody realises a bespoke garment can be an option. Let’s talk about what a bespoke option offers!

Now, as someone who takes great pride in their personal aesthetic, I know it can be particularly hard to find something if you have a unique personal style. The wedding industry moves incredibly slowly in comparison to the rest of the fashion world and although more non-traditional options are arising, they are still few and far between. A bespoke service will ensure that your garment looks and feels like you.

Another way we can make this garment the perfect one for you is by incorporating all the elements of your wedding that make it personal. This could be creating a dress using your colour palette, using your mum’s wedding dress as inspiration, even reusing fabric from another wedding dress. The goal is to create something that means something to you and when we design from scratch we can include any detail you want to.

To start turning your vision into a reality, I need to understand the vision, so I want you to tell me everything about your wedding. There are so many factors that go into what makes the perfect garment the perfect garment. You might not be a dress person, you could be looking for a jumpsuit, trousers, or separates. Maybe it needs to be comfortable, if it’s going to be hot it needs to be breathable, perhaps you need to dance, or hike. Your wedding could be outside and you need something that can withstand the elements. Perhaps most importantly, it needs to make you feel INCREDIBLE. All of these details contribute to making the garment you wear the best one for the day.

The process of creating the garment itself will take several months and will include several fittings as standard. The first few will use a ‘toile’, a mock-up of your first idea. During the fitting we can discuss which parts you like and if there are any parts you want to change. There is no wrong answer at a fitting, if you want to change something, we are more than happy to do so before the fabric is ordered. We want this garment to be exactly what you want.
