Disco Cowgirl

One of my absolute favourite parts of what I do is collaborating with other industry professionals and watching everyone's talents coming together to create something incredible. This was the first of many collaborations with Amy Davies Photography and Inclusive Events, a team of professionals I have the utmost respect and admiration for.

Recently featured in County Wedding Magazine, the theme for this shoot was Disco Cowgirl and it was my first opportunity to push the boundaries of what we consider ‘Bridal’. I really wanted to add a little camp and couture to the look so I styled some samples in the shop with a few pieces I made especially for the shoot.

Taking place at the gorgeous Great Betley Farmhouse in Henfield, the first look was a picnic on the grounds. The team styled a skirt and top two-piece with a mini capelet I made from crepe offcuts and a full trim of fringing, because every cowgirl needs something fringed. The decadent picnic was adorned with ribbons and disco balls and the model couple enjoyed berries and glasses of bubbly out in a sunny field.

Heading out toward the barn the top was swapped out for another piece I made, inspired by the camp and kitsch vibes of the mood board provided. Made with a warm ivory satin, the shaped seams create a heart which has ruffle inserts to add a little extra flare and the inside of the heart is hand embellished with scattered pearl beading. Paired perfectly with a gorgeous leather jacket by Niamh Designs, another professional I have had the honour of collaborating with several times, the result of the look is cute but edgy, a perfect indie bride. Shots of the couple with this gorgeous beetle showed off the model’s fantastic steel-toe capped leather cowboy boots and the colourful bouquet adds a vibrancy to the background of ivories.

My favourite piece that I created for this shoot was a last minute addition I added on a whim. I visited my favourite fabric shop in the north lanes in Brighton and came across this gorgeous dusky pink faux-fur with flecks of silver and I had to have it. Discussing it with the owner of the shop I had the idea of chaps, something I have always been low-key obsessed with, my final collection at uni even included a pair of chaps! The result was the super camp fluffy chaps you see in these pictures, with a heart shaped cut out at the front and back and a little pair of hotpants to go underneath. Perfectly styled with another incredible jacket by Niamh and another beautiful cowgirl hat, the result is this super cool, super pink, cowgirl bride.

The final shots were taken with out by the barn with the incredibly handsome Tom, the horse. I had a lot of extra polka dot tulle leftover from another project that I wanted to use to create some texture and whimsy to the two piece. I’ve always been a huge lover of Vivienne Westwood so the classic gathered skirt silhouette inspired me with this one. This shoot was a lot of fun to be a part of and the beginning of a journey of wedding magic with industry professionals that will become friends.
